An on-site portrait studio for Clash de Cartier in Stockholm. I photographed guests during the event, creating portraits for a series of black-and-white artworks with gold lettering.

A portrait within the celebration

Cartier brought its Stockholm celebration to Delight Studios at Finnboda. The evening explored light and dark, with guests arriving by boat and an installation in the venue’s cave room. My part of the event was the portrait studio.

From portrait to artwork

The colour portraits were developed into a black-and-white treatment, bringing the photography into the same visual language as the supplied gold lettering.

    Tonal treatment

    Black-and-white treatment and balanced contrast bring out faces and expressions against the dark background.

    Graphic frame

    The portrait is composed within one of three supplied designs, pairing monochrome photography with gold lettering.

A studio within the event.

We set up in the north-east corner of the ground-floor dance floor. The studio brought a consistent photographic setting into the event, with guests photographed individually and together.

A consistent portrait language.

Soft light and a subtle glow against the dark background give the portraits depth while keeping attention on the guests. A consistent setting leaves room for different expressions and gestures throughout the evening.
